The long awaited fourth title on the ever prolific Chestplate ran by DJ Distance is upon us, featuring two tracks which have been doing the rounds for a while now, the funky guitar laden 'Headstrung' and the deep broody 'No Sunshine'. The further along Distance goes, the more pronounced and developed his well-documented metal influences become, particularly on the home turf of his own label, Chestplate. ‘Headstrung’ is a no-messing riff piece, thunking fuzzed guitars chugging their way through a heavy beat of boxy snares and tapping hats, and solo flourishes adding a little relief and colour. ‘No Sunshine’ is less distorted, with the guitars sticking to topline melodies and harmonics over stamping live drums.
