After releases on Exit affiliated labels Nonplus and Autonomic, ASC releases his debut 12” on Exit with two tracks that as usual, experiment with the 170bpm tempo and bring fresh and intriguing results. Stutter is one of those tracks that comes around every once in a while and really stands out in terms of originality. Starting with a marching hip hop style drum break the intro progresses through a range of outstandingly programmed percussion elements that “stutter” around the main drums giving a jerky and rough backdrop for futuristic synth fx and lead patterns. String arrangements seem to loom in from nowhere like storm clouds and darken the atmosphere but the track stays relentless in its progression which really is quite difficult to explain as its just so intricate and ever changing. This one really does require multiple listens to infuse. Leviathan takes on the same kind of half time approach but is much less aggressive than its angry acquaintance. Here we have a warping sub bass that dominates proceedings practically from the off and is laced with industrial sounding effects and trademark ASC percussion, and again, progresses through sections of melody, atmosphere and pure madness in terms of arrangement.FREE MP3s of Stutter by ASC when you buy the VinylTerms & Conditions ApplyRelease date: 23/05/2011Format: 12" VinylGenre: D&BCatalogue number: EXIT029
