Seba and Paradox have been carving out their own corner in the DnB field over the last 3 years and due to this workload Alaska and Seba haven’t met in the studio.. until now!
‘Back from Eternity’ truly captures the ‘Real Music’ vibe from the peak- Good Looking era of 1996. Sometimes in order to go forward you have to go back and that is plainly evident in this case. Crisp James Brown breaks, deep bass, beautiful chords, pads and a haunting choir hook that sticks in your head and makes you hum the hook like a total freak for the rest of the day, take you straight back to ’96 when you listen to the 7 minutes of ‘Back from Eternity’. This is a stark lesson in how atmospheric Drum and Bass should be done today - Period. A bold statement yes, but who can argue the case against producers with 30 joint years of DnB experience?
‘Perpetual’ takes Alaska and Seba down the 70’s path to look for their breakbeat inspiration and the two producers return to 2006 with a stunning musical roller. Sweeping pad’s, male vocals, low bass notes, piano hooks and looping bell chimes all add to the aura of ‘Perpetual’. The track constantly builds on the atmosphere and gives a good demonstration to how ambient DnB should be programmed today. Enjoy!
