Alaska first graced the DnB scene in 1996 with the debut EP 12" 'Dual Elements/Believe in Me/Out of Darkness' via Offset Records. Two 12"s followed on Intercity Records before 1997's seminal 'The Vortex/Invisible' on Renegade Recordings caught the eye of LTJ Bukem who then signed a sleuth of Alaska & Paradox & Nucleus 12"s for the Good Looking Records camps GLR, LGR, Nexus and 720 Degrees.

The first 4x12" Alaska album 'Virtual Virtuosos' surfaced in 2000 on Subject 13's Vibez imprint. Alaska went on to record a second 4x12" studio album in early 2006 entitled 'Arctic Foundations' for the Vibez offshoot label 13 Music.

Whilst all the remaining ambient jungle labels in the DnB scene were folding Alaska surged forward with the birth [in 2006] of Arctic Music, a new atmospheric dnb label fielding a strong-white coloured vinyl identity and a simple mission statement - to preserve the ambient-jungle sound of the mid-90's that DnB had simply forgotten.

12" releases followed from Alaska plus collaborations with Seba, Nucleus and Kirsty Hawkshaw. 2010 saw Alaska release the third studio album 'The Mesozoic Era' on 3x12" snow-white vinyl and Solid-Black compact disc formats, a brave step for a small label single-handedly flying the flag for analogue ambient-jungle.

16 years has passed since the first Alaska release and there are no signs of hanging up the gloves. The new 'Arcosphere/Moraine' 12" [AM007] is upon us and 2012 will see alot of activity from Alaska, Robert Manos and Arctic Music.
