After a series of life-changing experiences abroad, Kito returned home to Australia in 2008 and began to focus on cultivating the ideas which had been germinated through her travels into her own unique sound. The amalgamation of these efforts eventually gave rise to her seminal work What If, which along with Cold on the B-side was immediately recognized and released by Skream, one of Dubstep's figureheads, on his own label Disfigured Dubz in 2009.
Characterized by a pop-infused, fresh and precisely clean production style, Kito’s music has received support globally from a number of leading DJs including Skream, Benga, Diplo, D-Bridge, Intra:mental, Joker, Jakes, Digital Mystikz and many more. With an already large and ever-growing fan base and encouraging articles and reviews from publications such as NME & Knowledge, it is clear big things are in store for this young artist.
An accomplished and experienced DJ, Kito has spent years diligently honing her skills as a performer since the age of 15, as demonstrated by her accolades to date which include winning ‘Best New Talent’ in the Perth Dance Music Awards in 2005, and taking first place in the DJ Idol competition at Roller (Australia’s longest running Drum and Bass event) in the same year.
Kito has also recorded exclusive mixes for Mary Anne Hobb's lauded Experimental Show on BBC Radio 1, which won 2009's DJ Mag Award for Best Radio Show as well as Skream's radio show ‘Stella Sessions’ on Rinse FM and back home, performed on one of Australia’s largest national radio stations; Triple J.
Kito has produced a four-track EP due for release in mid-2010 on Disfigured Dubz featuring the hugely popular LFO with vocals by Reija Lee, along with On The Floor, Don't Wanna Lose You and her remix of Vaccine’s Fever.
2010 sees Kito elaborating on her partnership with vocalist Reija Lee to compile an impressive body of collaborative work. The duo have signed a number of tracks to Diplo’s hugely popular label, Mad Decent which is also home to such influential artists as Major Lazer, Rusko, Boy 8-Bit, Crookers, and South Rakkas Crew. It's clear that this is only the beginning of what promises to be a very exciting musical career for Kito. Definitely one to keep an eye on!
