Moving on from the last heavy hitting Modulations release and we’re treated to an even more sturdy effort from two names that need no introduction. A bit of a dream collaboration between Vicious Circle and Metalheadz man Jubei, and where better place to serve it up than from Critical’s Modulations imprint. ‘Cloak & Dagger’ wastes no time and kicks off with a solid stepping break as eerie space warped pads wrap around to suck us deep into the wormhole. Heinous bass slams on this sound system killer, perfect for some late night 3am entertaining and leaves us in no doubt of a properly undiluted low-slung king of the rollers. Nasty, naughty but nice. Sliding perfectly into the second slab and ‘Deliberate’ continues much in the same vein but it manages to up the ante with some even more sickening bassline action. Running percussion increases the pace whilst the bass stabs take it up another notch for a heads down, no nonsense slice of D&B goodness. Never fails.
