An awesome second release for the fledgling imprint that’s got people talking throughout the scene. First up is ‘The Cleaner’ with sharp drums and that dangerous subliminal, almost toxic bassline. Serving as the perfect accompaniment to ‘Raindance’ with its thunder cloud atmospherics, it has the electricity, the thickness in the air and delivers the quiet before the stormy drops. The single is a perfecect combination, even meteorologically, and should make any drum and bass connoisseur fidget with anticipation for more from Hybris. ‘Raindance’ is a hauntingly beautiful take on what we would expect from darkside of drum and bass. The tribal vocals and broken beat percussion make it a tune to be remembered with subtle but sick bass and a fantastic spatial awareness. It shows how less can be so much more with a classy production prowess that many drum and bass veterans still strive for.
