Mount Kimbie - "Carbonated" - Official Music Video

Wednesday 14 September 2011

After releasing their debut album ‘Crooks and Lovers’ last summer to huge critical acclaim, and racking up numerous end of year lists including the shortlist for Guardian’s First Album Award and an appearance on Channel 4’s Abbey Road Debuts, Mount Kimbie now reveal the video for ‘Carbonated’ – the lead track on their recent EP – as a farewell to ‘Crooks and Lovers’.

The London duo released the ‘Carbonated’ EP in July through Hotflush, see the Tyrone Lebon-directed video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRVwtSmgKP8

Tyrone Lebon collaborated with Mount Kimbie on all of the visuals for ‘Crooks and Lovers’ including the press shots, album artwork and his trilogy of music videos. Tyrone says of the ‘Carbonated’ video: “It is about trying to find beauty of young people being of a certain age - it plays on the themes of solitude and individual experiences that happens in life often in company of other people. If you go out to a club with friends, you share an experience together but you also have your own unique solitary moments of the night like walking home alone and noticing little details of the city or even whilst still on the dancefloor.”

Having performed at Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds, Field Day, Pukklepop, Berlin Music Festival, Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards and Bestival this summer, Mount Kimbie are about to finish touring their debut – a tour that has taken them all over the world including sold out tours in United States, Australia, China, Europe and the UK.

Mount Kimbie recently performed a live session for Day Trotter, hear it here: http://soundcloud.com/mountkimbie/sets/daytrotter-session

‘Crooks and Lovers’ defined Dominic Maker and Kai Campos as an original and exceptional duo whose musical output refuses to be pigeonholed. Abundant in paradoxes, the album floats through dubstep and hip-hop, jazz, techno, post-rock, UK garage, shoegaze, indie and film scores to startling effect.
