41 track download inc. 'MMegaplekz by Ekoplekz'
Mordant Music has been unfurling its curled audio edges for a decade now and the fiftieth release comes as a downloadable chronological coMpendiuM in keeping with 'Picking O'er The Bones', compiled by the Baron, comprising favourites from the Nesst aswell as many previously unreleased/unavailable emissions from MM, Shackleton, Sii, Vindicatrix, Mr. Maxted, Cosmic Dennis Greenidge & the estimable Ekoplekz...these include two early Shackleton tracks, first proferred at the same time as 'Stalker', a recent Vindicatrix demo, archival tracks from Mr. Maxted, Ekoplekz, Sii, CDG and audio selections from the 'MisinforMation' DVD...the tracks are availed unmixed as 'ModernismuseuM' and as a sprawling 'MMegaplekz by Ekoplekz' clocking in at 75 minutes...so, a suMMary of sorts as the label heads back into the aether for a breather...the Baron would like to extend his gratitude to all the top notch artists involved for flapping their collective wings thus far, staunch distributors, square quills, retailers and of course to all the loyal spores for their eyes, ear canals and generous silver...regards BM

"As with all my mixes, it was recorded live, although, owing to the complexity of the task, done in four sections which were then digitally stitched together (see if you can spot the joins). I actually pre-planned and rehearsed most of it, but still there are plenty of moments of sweet serendipity as well as the occasional fluff. All the tracks were burned onto cd and everything played off domestic cd players so no chance of pitch adjusting. In fact one of my cd players died recently so I had to enlist the help of the DVD player in the living room. The outputs were sent through a chain of fx pedals, equalizers, echos, phasers etc and sculpted into shape where necessary. I try to approach dj mixing in the same way I would a live performance and tried not to get too OTT with the plekzing, which might become a bit tiring for the listener over such a long mix. I didn't add much in the way of extra live elements, apart from some improvised Chimera BC8 synth over the Shackleton tune. I ignored any sense of chronology, just tried to make random neural connections wherever possible. I wanted it to start very abstract, so the listener felt disorientated at the start with nothing to cling on to, then gradually bring in a sense of order - and then shatter it again at every turn. I wanted a vortex of sounds, an endless flow of unpredictable gear-changes, mangled dead-ends dissolving into fresh vistas, organised chaos, the vulnerability and determination of the human spirit, the big fucking picture etc etc. blah...I live and die by the opposing forces of "Chance Vs. Causality" and I think you can hear that in this mix"
