Following the huge success of XI’s second release, Orca Recordings is back to deliver its highly anticipated forth instalment; this time from the highly versatile Xxxy , who has delivered two unbelievably cuts for his first 12” on the label.
It has been an unbelievable year for Xxxy, with the success of ‘You Always Start It’ on Ten Thousand Yen capturing the attention of many of the scene’s tastemakers including Mount Kimbie, Untold MJ Cole and many others. With his new outing on Orca, Xxxy’s musical style has evolved considerably to incorporate a whole new set of influences and ideas, which leads us to proudly announce that the productions set to be released in the Orca series are ‘You Gotta Do You’ and ‘Open Your Eyes’. ‘You Gotta Do You’ sees Xxxy venture into new sonic territory drawing influence from acid techno, continuing the creative exploration of this classic sound alongside other contemporary artists like Boddika and Blawan. The driving 808’s and futuristic synth arpeggios give this all the heavy vibes of a classic Underground Resistance release with a unique modern interpretation. On the flip, ‘Open Your Eyes’ carries a completely different focus, taking on all the features of an early 90’s jungle anthem and re-contextualizing them into 130bpm amen drivenworkout. Both of these productions are from the ethos that looking into the past for musical inspiration and to create a new breed of sound that is strong enough to smash the biggest clubs but versatile enough to please the most discerning headphone listener.
