As the Ramifications LP does the long-player rounds Paradox returns to the solo 12” fold with a fresh slab of analogue power. Paralexia steps into the arena with an alarm drone leaving you guessing what’s going to happen next and then a thudding-kick bursts a swinging breakbeat wide open in bluenote-esque fashion. As the track progresses the drums pick up the pace reminiscent of Paradox’s early work on the legendary Certificate 18 label. Dub vocal samples soaked in fx, eerie soundscapes and distorted subs add a deep rumble to the intricately-placed breaks and tension of Paralexia. Ambiguity has b-boy etched on its headplate from the word go. A rare breakbeat gets the full Paradox treatment and dragged back from the 70’s into the future. Sinister vocals and synth pads set an unclear mood whilst spinning-break patterns and sub booms tie the track together in true Paradox style. One for the beatheads!
